Our society has made great progress in destigmatizing mental health over the years. People are beginning to discuss mental health more openly and are sharing their personal experiences as a way to heal and educate the public. However, there is still much work to be done to fully understand and accept mental illness. In the United States alone, it’s estimated that over 40% of adults over the age of 18 have a mental illness. With the rise of mental health awareness and an increase in the number of people diagnosed, the United States has approximately 500,000 mental health professionals that spend every day helping the millions of people in need.
Our team at the Law Offices of Kevin J Roach, LLC is passionate about mental health awareness and understands the importance of mental health professionals. That is why our firm introduced our Mental Health Advocacy Nomination as our way to honor medical field professionals, teachers, psychologists and therapists who go above and beyond every day to advocate for mental health on behalf of those who need the support.
In the past year, mental health cases have significantly risen due to COVID-19. Last summer, 53% of adults reported that the coronavirus pandemic has negatively impacted their mental health which has caused more people to seek the help of mental health specialists. Online therapists have seen a 65% increase in patients from this time last year. When people are struggling with their own mental health, having someone to support and advocate for them can make a world of a difference. Mental health professionals work tirelessly every day and we want to give these individuals a chance to be recognized, supported, and celebrated!
With that said, we are proud to announce Angela G. as our 2021 Mental Health Advocate Nomination winner!

It is such a humbling moment to be given an award like this. There are many times when the work goes unnoticed so to see a law office such as yours care about mental health in a time like this is gratifying. As you stated during the time of COVID we have seen a rapid increase in the number of individuals with mental health issues. The increase in anxiety and depression is overwhelming. I want to say thank you to those who nominated me and to the Law Offices of Kevin Roach, LLC for this award. I am so excited to have received it and to think of others in the future to be nominated. As nomination winner, our firm is awarding Angela with a $500 prize. Angela is certainly an exemplary individual who goes above and beyond to take care of her patients and advocate for mental health.
