Steven Wirey and Richard Champney and Several Others Injured in Crash with FedEx Truck on Loughboro Road near Bismarck
Bismarck, Missouri (January 5, 2018) – A FedEx truck collided with another vehicle on Thursday afternoon leaving several people injured near Bismarck, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident took place at the intersection of Loughboro and Rock Roads on Thursday, January 4.
Police said 18-year-old Steven Wirey of Bismarck was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Rock Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the right side of a 2008 GMC Savanna G3500 FedEx truck. The truck was being driven westbound on Loughboro Road by 40-year-old Richard Champney of Salem.
Champney was ejected from his vehicle when it was pushed off the right shoulder of the road and slammed into a fence.
Champney sustained serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital-St. Louis.
Wirey was transported by private vehicle to Parkland Center with minor injuries.
Passengers in Wirey’s vehicle, 17-year-old Emma Simonton and 16-year-old Michael Bass Jr., both of Bismarck, were taken to Parkland Health Center. Simonton’s injuries were considered moderate and Bass Jr. was treated for minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
