On Saturday, September 15, Roberta Myers, a 77-year old resident of Greenfield, was badly injured in a car accident on County Road 343, south of Highway 34, in Cape Girardeau county.
The accident occurred at approximately 11 AM when James Stidham, 51, of Lockwood, crossed over the center line and struck Ms. Myers’ Ford Taurus head-on, causing serious injury to both parties.
According to the official crash report Ms. Myers suffered serious injury and had to be rushed to Mercy Hospital via the Dade county ambulance service for life-saving medical intervention. Mr. Stidham also suffered life threatening injuries and had to be flown by emergency LifeFlight to Cox South Hospital. Investigators were unable to determine if either party was wearing their safety belt at the time of the incident.
Both vehicles were totaled and had to be towed from the scene.
