On Tuesday, August 14, Robert Kiffe and Kyla Warman, were both injured in a traffic accident involving multiple 18-wheelers on I-35 in Clay County.
The accident began at approximately 1:20 PM when a big-rig driven by Howard Oats, 56, of Wisconsin, jack knifed in the road and struck the rear end of a another big rig operated by Mr. Kiffe, a resident of Blaine, MN. Ms. Warman, unable to react in time so as to avoid the trailer unit of Mr. Oats big rig, then struck the trailer unit as it sat obstructing the road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, both Mr. Kiffe and Ms. Warman suffered only moderate injury and were both transported to North Kansas City Hospital as a precautionary measure. Both parties, however, suffered significant and potentially expensive property damage.
All parties appear to have been wearing their safety belts at the time of the incident.
