Greenview Woman Paige Johnston Hospitalized in 2-Vehicle Crash on Illinois 29
Paige Johnston, 20, Injured 2-Car Crash on Illinois 29 between Greenview and Athens
Menard County, Illinois (December 24, 2017) – Illinois State Police said one person was hurt in a collision in Menard County Saturday night.
The crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, December 23, on Illinois 29 between Greenview and Athens.
According to Illinois State Police, 22-year-old Alexandria A. Abbot, of Abingdon, was driving a vehicle west on Sweetwater Road when she failed to yield while turning right onto Illinois 29. Abbott’s vehicle was then rear-ended by a vehicle driven northbound by Angela E. Haynes, 45, of Mason City.
The collision caused Abbott’s vehicle to go into the right ditch and Haynes’ car in the left ditch which partially immense in a small pond.
Paige R. Johnston, 20, of Greenview, a passenger in Abbott’s car, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical attention, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said Abbott was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.
