One Killed in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 435 near 23rd Street in Kansa City

Kansas City, Missouri (December 15, 2017) – One person was killed in a fiery multi-vehicle collision Tuesday morning in Kansas City, according to the Kansas City police traffic unit.

The fatal crash took place just before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 on Interstate 435, just north of 23rd Street.

According to the report log, traffic along southbound lanes of I-435 had been stopped when a FedEx delivery truck failed to stop and struck a pickup truck. The delivery truck then veered off the highway and slammed into the guardrail before it caught fire. A total of four vehicles were involved in the incident.

The delivery truck driver was unable to make it out of the vehicle and died at the scene.

No other serious injuries were reported in the crash.

All the southbound lanes of I-435 remained closed for several hours after the incident.

Police officers are investigating the cause of the accident.
