Dowell Woman Lisa Porter Injured in Du Quoin Car Crash at Routes 51 and 14
Lisa Porter Hospitalized after 3-Vehicle Accident on Route 51 in Du Quoin
Du Quoin, Illinois (January 10, 2018) – A Dowell woman suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on Friday evening in Du Quoin, according to Du Quoin Police Department.
The accident took place at around 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 5 at the intersection Of Route 51 and Route 14.
Police said Bryan Varner, 54, of Murphysboro was sitting in a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck facing northbound on Route 14 at the intersection of Route 51 when he drove across the intersection and crashed into the side of a 2014 Chevrolet, driven northbound on Route 51 by Lisa Porter, 50, of Dowell.
The force of the crash caused Porter’s vehicle to collide with a 2017 Chevrolet SUV, that was stopped at the intersection and waiting to turn onto Route 14. The Chevrolet’s driver was identified as Jennifer Caldwell, 47, of Du Quoin.
Porter sustained injuries and was transported to Marshall Browning Hospital.
Varner was issued a citation for failure to observe due care while driving.
