St. Louis County, Missouri (March 2, 2018) – Two people were injured when a vehicle crashed into another, pushing it into a pedestrian on Wednesday morning in St. Louis County, according to MSHP.

The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, on Interstate 44 at South Holmes Avenue.

Troopers said a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche heading westbound on I-44 was traveling in Lane 3 in a construction zone when it changed lanes into a lane closed for construction. The vehicle struck a 2014 Caterpillar, which in turn hit a pedestrian.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Douglas Kirk, 34, of St Louis, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

The pedestrian was identified as Kenneth L. Sullinger, 43, of Arnold. He was rushed to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Caterpillar was not hurt.

Kirk’s vehicle was totally damaged.
