Kairat Turganbanyen Seriously Injured in Crash with Big Rigs on I-44 in Lawrence County
Lawrence County, Missouri (January 6, 2018) – A Virginia man sustained injuries early Saturday morning in a collision involving two semi-trucks in Lawrence County, according to a report by the MSHP.
The accident happened at around 2:15 a.m. on Interstate 44, four miles east of Mount Vernon.
Police said Elmer A. Oliva, 50, of Houston, Texas, was driving a 1996 Volvo semi tractor-trailer out of the rest area when he accelerated in the right lane and crashed into the back of a semi tractor-trailer that was being driven by Kairat Turganbanyen, 29, of Virginia Beach.
Turganbanyen sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
No other injuries were reported.
