Joseph Arico and Melanie Mitchell Injured in Jefferson County Rear-End Crash on MO-30
Jefferson County, Missouri (January 30, 2018) – A driver and his passenger were hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident on Sunday morning in Jefferson County, according to MSHP.
The crash occurred on Missouri Route 30 at the intersection of Missouri Route BB at around 11:45 a.m. Sunday, January 28.
Karl B. Steger, 43, of Fenton was driving a 2007 Hammer HS westbound on MO-30 when he started slowing down and came to a stop at the intersection of Missouri Route BB.
A 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic, driven by Joseph A. Arico, was traveling behind the Hammer and as he tried to slow down, the motorcycle skidded and struck the rear of the Hammer.
Troopers said the traffic lights at the intersection were not functioning at the time of the crash.
Arico and his passenger, Melanie S. Mitchell, 52, of Eureka, were both transported with moderate injuries by Big River Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center.
Steger was unhurt.
The Arico vehicle was towed from the scene with moderate damage.
