Jaclyn Thompson Injured in Collision with Tractor-Trailer on I-44 in Phelps County

Phelps County, Missouri (January 26, 2018) – A crash between a car and a tractor-trailer left a St. James woman with serious injuries on Tuesday morning in Phelps County.

The incident took place at around 7:42 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, on Interstate 44 at Mile Marker 194, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling westbound on Interstate 44 in the right lane when the vehicle skidded and entered into the path of a 2017 Peterbilt tractor traveling in the left lane.

The vehicles collided and traveled off the south shoulder of the roadway into the median.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Jaclyn L. Thompson, 24, of St. James, was airlifted to University Hospital Columbia with serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor, William R. Casper Jr., 60, of Carterville, Illinois, was unhurt.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene with Thompson’s vehicle totally damaged.
