Three Young Brothers Killed in Highway 86 Multi-Vehicle Crash in Newton County
Isaac Verde, Benjamin and Eric Verde of Neosho Killed, 4 Injured in Newton County Crash on Highway 86
Newton County, Missouri (December 27, 2017) – Three Neosho brothers were killed Tuesday evening in a major multi-multivehicle crash on Highway 86 in Newton County.
A report by the Missouri Highway Patrol said the crash took place at about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26 on Highway 86, just east of Stark City.
Troopers said a Sarcoxie resident driving a Peterbilt tractor-trailer hit a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse traveling in the same lane and caused it to cross the centerline and into the path of oncoming traffic.
The Traverse was then struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, causing the Traverse to travel off the roadway and overturned.
Benjamin Verde, 4, Eric Verde, 7, and Isaac Verde, 2, all of Neosho, were riding in the Traverse and were killed in the crash, troopers said.
Four people from Fairview were riding in the Tahoe and sustained serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
