Griffith Man and Los Angeles Man Injured in 2-Car Crash on US 41 in Highland
Highland, Illinois (January 2, 2017)- According to Highland Police Department, a two-car crash in Highland on Monday sent two drivers to a hospital, one in critical condition.
The accident happened at about 1:48 p.m. Monday, January 1, in the 9400 block of U.S. 41 in Highland.
According to investigators report, a 55-year-old man from Los Angeles was driving a car northbound in the outside lane when a Griffith man tried a left turn into the Easy Clean Car Wash, 9425 Indianapolis Boulevard.
According to a report, the 55-year-old man could not avoid the collision and struck the Griffith man’s car on the passenger side.
Police said the Griffith driver had to be removed from his vehicle by Highland fire crews and was taken to Munster Community Hospital, then transferred Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary and finally to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition and mid-body injuries.
The Los Angeles driver sustained minor aches and pains and was taken to Munster Community Hospital as a precaution, police said.
According to a preliminary investigation report, Los Angeles was not at-fault in the crash.
The identity of the victims and the official cause of the crash was not immediately available, but an investigation remained underway.
