Iroquois County, Illinois (February 28, 2018) – An Indiana man was killed and two others injured in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in rural Iroquois County, according to Illinois State Police.

The deadly crash took place at around 11:09 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, on Illinois 1.

According to state police, Glenn W. Kolzow, 75, of Lafayette, Indiana, was operating a station wagon north when he stopped at the intersection of County Road 500 N for oncoming traffic to clear and was struck by a semitrailer driven from behind by Kenneth R. Swanson, 53, of Midlothian. The semi reportedly failed to stop.

The impact sent Kolzow’s vehicle into oncoming traffic and crashed into an oncoming car driven by Seth T. Moody, 29, of Danville and a minivan driven by David K.Y. Chin, 42, of Urbana.

Kolzow was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased, police said.

Chin and his passenger, Stephen J. Robbins, 70, of Rantoul both sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for medical attention.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Police said Swanson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
