Texas County, Missouri (February 6, 2018) – An Indiana man was seriously hurt in a crash between a car and a semi-truck early Monday morning in Texas County, according to State Troopers.

Gary L. Fetter was injured in the collision that took place at around 5:50 a.m. Monday, February 5, on U.S. 63, just north of Licking.

66-year-old Fetter was driving a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia semi-tractor southbound on U.S. 63 when he struck a 2011 Volkswagen C Sport that was parked at the side of the road after running out of gas.

The impact pushed the Volkswagen off the right shoulder of the roadway.

Fetter continued heading south before traveling off the roadway, striking a guardrail and rolling over.

The impact ejected Fetter from the vehicle.

Fetter was not wearing a seatbelt. He was airlifted to Mercy Hospital Springfield in serious condition.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 47-year-old Mathew Wood of Springfield, was not injured.

The Freightliner was towed from the scene with total damage.
