Douglas Benge, 58, Killed in 2-Vehicle Collision at 2550 North Road on Illinois 47
Dwight, Illinois (December 23, 2017) — Authorities have identified a Fairbury man who was killed in a crash Thursday night south of Dwight in Livingston County as 58-year-old Douglas L. Benge.
The accident took place at about 6 p.m. Thursday, at 2550 North Road on Illinois 47.
According to a preliminary report, Benge was operating his vehicle south when he drove across the center line and collided with a semi-trailer which was traveling northbound.
According to a Livingston County Coroner’s report, Benge was declared dead at the accident scene while the driver of the semi-trailer, whose identity is still not known, was not hurt in the crash.
An autopsy to determine the cause of Benge’s death has been scheduled, authorities said.
Authorities are continuing with an investigation into the crash.
