Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Vehicle on Interstate 57 in Jefferson County
Jefferson County, Illinois (March 5, 2018) – According to a local news source, a man was struck and killed by a semi Wednesday night in Jefferson County.
The accident took place at about 7:48 p.m. March 4, on Interstate 57, a mile north of exit 95 to Mt. Vernon.
According to Illinois State Police, 50-year-old David Gayton of Sesser, Illinois was standing in the center of three lanes when he was hit by a semi driven by 41-year-old Christopher Stafford of Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
Troopers say Stafford failed to slow down.
Gayton was pronounced dead at the scene
