At approximately 4:30 pm on Wednesday, May 9th, Mark Nelson, 50, Rogersville, and Deanna Halbert, 46, also of Rogersville, were injured in a traffic accident on Highway 65 five miles south of Ozark, in Christian County. The accident occurred when Ms. Halbert, who was stopped on the highway due to another accident further down the road, was rear ended by Mr. Nelson, who failed to stop his vehicle in time. Both drivers were wearing their safety belts at the time, and according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, both suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported to area hospitals for further treatment, and later released.

A traffic accident can be a terrible and even trying event. We at the law offices of Kevin J. Roach wish all of the parties a speedy and thorough recovery.

The Legal Claims

Missouri offers a robust and thorough system of personal injury law meant to protect those who have been hurt in accidents caused by the careless conduct of others. Here, Mr. Nelson was likely at fault, and the injured party may seek compensation for their medical expenses, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering; from both Mr. Nelson and his insurer.
