One killed, Casey Shoemate, one injured, Robert Levin, in Miller County crash

On April 20th at approximately 5:50 pm, Deputy Casey Shoemate, 26, of Eldon, MO, and Robert Levin, 65, of Florissant, MO, were involved in an accident that occurred on RT Y just north of Rabbit Hill Road. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Deputy Shoemate’s vehicle, which had emergency lights and sirens activated, was involved in the accident when he attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head on with the Mr. Levin’s vehicle.  Dep. Shoemate was pronounced dead at the scene by the Miller County Coroner. Mr. Levin sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital via Staff for Life Helicopter Service.
