What Are the Top Three Locations For Car Wrecks in St. Louis?

Driving in St. Louis can be challenging, and some roads are more prone to wrecks than others. Three roads that see some of the highest numbers of accidents include the following:

1. Kingshighway Boulevard

This major north-south thoroughfare starts north of Interstate 70 and runs south through several neighborhoods before terminating at Route 30. In 2024, 183 motor vehicle crashes of all types took place somewhere along Kingshighway Boulevard, a rate of about one accident every other day.

2. Jefferson Avenue

Although Jefferson Avenue is not as long as Kingshighway Boulevard, this north-south road runs close to the downtown area and several congested neighborhoods like Lafayette Square and Benton Park. No fewer than 100 crashes happened on Jefferson Avenue, including several injury wrecks.

Drivers should be especially careful near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

3. Grand Boulevard

Another major north-south road that drivers in St. Louis should be aware of is Grand Boulevard. Starting in the north near the Mississippi River, Grand Boulevard generally travels south to Carondelet Park, just north of Interstate 55. Along this path, it passes through I-70, I-64, and I-44.

Some of the most dangerous cross-streets that Grand Boulevard intersects with include Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive and Florissant Avenue.

What Should I Do After a St. Louis Car Accident?

No matter where you are in St. Louis, it is important to know what to do if you are involved in a crash.

Be prepared to take the following steps:

  • If it’s possible and safe to do so, move yourself and your vehicle out of the way of traffic
  • Call 911 if you suspect that you or anyone else has been injured or if there is significant property damage
  • Exchange information with other drivers, but refrain from discussing who is at fault
  • Take photographs of the accident scene and record the names of witnesses
  • Get to a hospital or doctor’s office for evaluation and treatment

Once you have completed these steps, make sure to schedule an appointment to speak with an attorney about your next moves. If another person’s carelessness caused your wreck, your attorney can work with you to develop a plan for you to pursue the compensation you deserve.
