Police Officer Hurt After Patrol Car Collides with Minivan on Illinois Road 13 in Saint Clair County
Saint Clair County, Illinois (February 18, 2018) – A New Athens police officer was injured when his patrol car was hit by a minivan Saturday night in Saint Clair County, according to a local news source.
The crash took place at about 10:00 p.m. February 17, on Illinois Route 13.
Police said the officer was in his patrol vehicle and was in the middle of a traffic stop when the patrol car was struck by a minivan. The patrol car was damaged on the driver’s side.
The New Athens officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the mini-van was arrested, the police said.
The incident remained under investigation.
