On Wednesday, September 5, 56-year old Margartt Batson was injured in a multi-vehicle accident on US-60, not far from Aurora in Lawrence County.
The accident occurred at approximately 4 PM when Andrew C. Gaston, a resident of Verona, apparently lost control of his Ford truck causing it to,cross over the center line before striking Ms. Batson, a resident of Monett, head-on.
According to the official crash report, Ms. Batson suffered severe, life-threatening, injury and had to be rushed by ambulance to Cox South Hospital for life-saving medical intervention. As of reporting, Ms. Batson was alive and remains in the care of hospital staff. All parties were wearing their safety belts at the time of the incident.
Both vehicles were totally destroyed in the incident, and no other drivers or occupants were involved or injured.
