Jessica Jones and Jason Philips Hurt in New Madrid Vehicle Crash on Interstate 55
New Madrid, Missouri (February 26, 2018) – Two people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle accident on Saturday morning in New Madrid County, according to Missouri state highway patrol,
The crash occurred at around 7:54 a.m. Saturday, February 24, on Interstate 55 at Mile Marker 51.2.
According to troopers, a 2008 Dodge Nitro driven by Shynyece Smith, 22, of Indianapolis, In., was traveling southbound on Interstate 55 when she lost control and traveled off the left side of the roadway and slammed into a cable barrier.
A 2009 Peterbilt driven by Thomas L. Busby, 43, of Griffin, Ga., was slowing down for traffic and was rear-ended by a 2002 Cadillac Deville, driven by Jason Philips, 35, of Kennett.
The Cadillac then collided with a 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by Kelly Clark, 36, of Metropolis, Il.
Philips sustained moderate injuries and his passenger, Jessica E. Jones, 34, of Kennett, was seriously hurt. They were both taken to St. Francis Medical Center Cape Girardeau.
No other injuries were reported.
All vehicles were towed from the scene with the Cadillac sustaining total damage.
