Jason Elwood Injured in 3-Vehicle Accident on I-55 in Jefferson County

Jefferson County, Missouri (January 5, 2018) – A House Springs man was taken to hospital after being involved in a three-vehicle accident on Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 3:25 p.m. Thursday, January 4, on Interstate 55 south of Route M.

Troopers said a 2005 Pontiac Montana was parked at the right side of southbound I-55 when a 1993 Saturn SL, driven southbound by Jason D. Elwood, 39, of House Springs, veered off the roadway and rear-ended the Pontiac.

Elwood’s vehicle started to rotate clockwise after the crash and its rear struck the right side of a southbound 1994 Ford Explorer that was being driven by Michael C. Govreau, 54, of Imperial.

Elwood was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained moderate injuries. He was transported by Rock Township Ambulance District to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The three vehicles were towed from the scene with moderate and extensive damage.
