James McCarty injured in St. Clair County big-rig wreck

On Wednesday, September 19, 53-year-old James McCarty of Kansas City, was injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on tractor-trailer collision on highway 13 near Lowry City.

The accident began at approximately 4 AM when a big-rig driven George Hill, 50, of Smithville apparently pulled into the path of Mr. McCarty’s truck, forcing Mr. McCarty to collide with the trailer unit of Mr. Hill’s 18-wheeler and sending both vehicles off road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Mr. McCarty had to be transported via EMS to Golden Valley Hospital in nearby Clinton. Mr. Hill was not hurt in the incident. Neither party has been criminally cited, and both parties were wearing their safety belts at the time of the incident.

Both big-rig suffered significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.

No other drivers or occupants were injured in the accident.
