Mound City, Missouri (January 28, 2018) – According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Friday evening near Mound City.

The accident took place at around 6 p.m. Friday, January 26, on Interstate 29 at mile marker 86 — two miles north of Mound City.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brian Welcher, 27, of Essex, was driving a 200 Kenworth tractor-trailer southbound on Interstate 29 when the trailer developed mechanical issues which made Welcher slow down in the driving lane of I-29 when another southbound car struck the trailer.

After the collision, Welcher’s vehicle and the car, which was driven by, driven by 63-year-old Fred Eggert of Blairstown, Missouri, both came to rest in the driving lane of I-29 facing south, as per the report.

The state patrol said Eggert and his passenger, Rose Eggert, 61, of Blairstown, were airlifted to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.

No other injuries were reported in the collision.
