New Madrid, Missouri (March 6, 2018) – Three drivers were hurt in a crash involving three vehicles on Monday afternoon in New Madrid County, according to state troopers.

The crash happened at around 2:50 p.m. Monday, March 5, on U.S. 61 at Missouri 80.

Troopers said a 2010 Dodge Charger was stopped in traffic when the driver, Christopher M. Myers, 25, of East Prairie, attempted to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a 2004 Dodge truck, driven by Sonny Copeland, 70, of Kewanee.

The impact caused the truck to run off the right shoulder of the roadway and crashed into a gas main.

Alex M. Cook, 23, of Portageville, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Impala behind the two vehicles and attempted to avoid the crash but also traveled off the right side of the roadway and slammed into the Ford truck.

Myers suffered moderate injuries while Copeland and Cook sustained minor injuries. They were all transported to Missouri Delta by ambulance.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene with total damage.
