Bicyclist Dies in West Englewood Crash on 59th Street
Englewood, Illinois (March 5, 2018) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision Wednesday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The deadly collision took place at around 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, in the 1800 block of 59th Street.
According to Chicago police, 21-year-old Carlos D. Ocana-Castillo was riding a bike in the 1800 block of 59th Street when a car changed lanes and hit him from behind and fled the scene.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, Ocana-Castillo was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on Thursday at 6:40 p.m.
An investigation into the fatal wreck is still ongoing.
