Carl Martin Killed, Another Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-470 in Lee’s Summit
Lee’s Summit, Missouri (March 6, 2018) – According to a local news source, one person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Lee’s Summit.
The crash took place at about 11:15 p.m. March 5, on I-470, just south of the I-70 and 40 Highway.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Chevrolet driven by 58-year-old Carl Martin of Lee’s Summit was traveling south on I-470 when for unknown reasons, a 2010 Toyota overtook and struck the back side of the Chevrolet.
As per the authorities, both vehicles left the road and entered the median. The Chevrolet flipped, and Martin was ejected before the car caught fire.
Martin was pronounced dead at the scene while a 41-year-old driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the Toyota was arrested after he was taken to the hospital on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the court records.
All northbound lanes of I-470 were closed for several hours.
The Incident remained under investigation.
