Aiden Mayfield Injured in 2-Vehicle Wreck on I-49 in Cass County

Cass County, Missouri (February 5, 2018) – A 7-year-old Adrian boy was injured in a collision involving two vehicles on Sunday afternoon in Cass County, MSHP said.

The incident took place at around 12:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, on Interstate 49 at North Cass Parkway.

Troopers said a 2003 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound on I-49 when it was struck on its back by a 2002 Ford Explorer that was attempting to overtake.

The driver of the Explorer, Jenny M. Werst, 31, of Adrian was unhurt but her passenger, Aiden P. Mayfield, 7, was transported to Children’s Mercy, Kansas City with minor injuries.

The driver of the F-250, Alfredo R. Katamura, 59, of Independence was not injured.

Troopers said all three were wearing their safety belts.
