On April 28th, at approximately 11:30 am, Robert James, 53, of Beaufort, MO, and Terri Smith, 47, also of Beaufort, were injured in a car accident just off Route M in Franklin County. The accident began when Bryan Smith, driving the vehicle in which Ms. Smith was riding as a passenger, attempted to pull back onto the highway after stopping to pick up a pedestrian. As Mr. Smith merged back into the flow of traffic, he struck Mr. James. Mr. James was operating a motorcycle at the time. Both parties suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Mercy Hospital by MERAMEC ambulance service.
