Huedell Walker killed, Melinda Walker injured, in Lafayette county hit-and-run

On Monday, September 24, 57-year old Huedell Walker was killed and 45-year old Melinda Walker was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle traffic accident on I-70 at mile marker 61.2 in Lafayette County.

The accident began at approximately 11:45 PM, when Mr. and Ms. Walker were struck while standing near their vehicle by an unknown driver. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the Walker vehicle was parked partially off the road way due to a mechanical problem when the collision occurred.

Tragically, Mr. Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene by members of the Lafayette county coroner's office. Ms. Walker was rushed to Western Missouri Medical Center via ambulance for emergency, life-saving, medical intervention.

Fleeing from the scene of an accident, particularly one that results in the loss of a life, is a serious criminal offense and investigators are currently searching for the unknown driver that struck the Walker family.

It is always unfortunate when a traffic accident ends in the loss of a life. We at the law offices of Kevin J. Roach extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the parties involved.

Our law firm understands that no amount of monetary compensation will bring back your loved one, but we also strongly believe that people must be held accountable for their actions.  Additionally, the money recovered from a Illinois wrongful death lawsuit can assist with any outstanding medical expenses, funeral costs, as well as income replacement if the deceased was the primary income earner.

There are also statutes of limitations within each state that determine how much time you have to file the wrongful death claim. In Missouri, a wrongful death claim can be filed anytime up to three years after the death of the family member.
