The Law Office of Kevin J. Roach, LLC firmly believes everyone deserves an inclusive education system tailored to meet their unique needs. Regrettably, this principle is not consistently upheld in our country’s education system, which contains numerous flaws that impose disadvantages on students, impeding their educational journey.

To address this issue, we introduced the Education Matters Scholarship, encouraging students to share their personal experiences within the education system, encompassing both positive and negative aspects and offering their insights on potential improvements. We proudly present our most recent scholarship recipient below:

2023 Scholarship Winner: Abigail Bell

Abigail Bell, a recent graduate of Lutheran High School, consistently earned a place on the High Honor Roll every semester, all while excelling in coaching soccer and tennis. Maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA, she now eagerly looks forward to beginning her studies at Samford University in the fall, where she plans to delve into the fields of Law, Politics, & Society. Abigail’s unwavering fascination with politics stems from its profound ability to shape our world, igniting her desire to influence positive change. Thus, when she was selected as our 2023 winner, Abigail’s joy knew no bounds. “I didn’t expect to win, to be honest.”

In her own words, “College is expensive these days, but I want to pursue my education as far as I can take it. I want to study politics and make a career out of it. I am extremely proud that my essay was selected and is helping me with my opportunity to attend college.”

2021 Scholarship Winner: Sarah Escobar

We would like to congratulate Sarah Escobar, the first winner of the Education Matter Scholarship! Sarah is a Texas-born student of iSchool High at the Woodlands. She recently graduated and is working towards going to college and getting a degree in animation in hopes of making her own cartoon one day. She is currently working as a digital artist who makes her own stories and helps other people’s characters come to life. Here is what Sarah had to say when she found out she was selected as the winner of the Education Matters Scholarship:

“To be honest I was not expecting to win the scholarship at all. I didn’t know if my essay would meet the standards of the scholarship, but now I feel incredibly relieved that it did. I feel a lot more excited about enrolling in college, and perhaps my essay will help someone, who knows? But regardless I’m very happy that my essay won and it’s given me a bit of confidence in my writing as well. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to get closer to paying for college.”
