Jo Daviess County, Illinois (March 3, 2018) – Authorities have identified the three people who were seriously injured in a rear-end collision in Jo Daviess County Wednesday afternoon as Zaid Abdallah, 34, of Chicago, Randy Huenefeld, 43, of Freeport, and Mario Sota, 48, of Elmwood Park.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 28, on Tiger Whip Road.

According to the ISP, a semi, driven by Wayne Pagryzinski, 66, of Wausau, failed to stop for road work and rear-ended a second vehicle.

The impact caused the second vehicle to slide forward causing a chain reaction involving three more vehicles, police said.

Police said Abdallah was an occupant of the vehicle that was struck by the semi, Huenefeld was the passenger in the car in front of Abdallah and Sota was the driver in the vehicle in front of Huenefeld.

Pagryzinski was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

An investigation into the wreck is still ongoing.
