Woodstock Woman, 44, Killed, 2 Women Hospitalized in Head-On Collision on Route 173 in Hebron

Woodstock, Illinois (January 19, 2018) – A 44-year-old Woodstock woman was killed, and two others sustained injuries in a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Hebron, McHenry County, according to a police report.

The accident took place at around 12:20 a.m. Thursday, January 18, in the 9800 block of Route 173 east of Hebron in Woodstock.

According to a, A 20-year-old Woodstock woman was operating a 2004 Mazda Tribute east on Route 173 when, for undetermined reasons, drove into the westbound lane and collided with a 2010 Dodge Journey driven west by a 56-year-old Twin Lakes, Wisconsin woman.

Police said the 44-year-old Woodstock woman was a passenger in the Mazda, and she was transported to Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center – Harvard, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Both drivers were transported to Centegra hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision, police said.

According to the police, both vehicles had airbags deployed.

The cause of the collision remained unclear.

An investigation into the deadly crash remained underway.
