Warren Harms and Denise Ried Killed in Head-On Crash at Route 1 and Vermilion County Road 3870

Vermilion County, Illinois (February 8, 2018) – Authorities have identified two people who were killed in a head-on collision Wednesday night in Vermilion County as Warren W. Harms, 52, of Hoopeston and Denise L. Ried, 59, of Wellington.

The fatal crash happened at around 6:20 p.m.  Wednesday, February 7, Illinois Route 1 and Vermilion County Road 3870 East between Hoopeston and Rossville.

According to a preliminary report, Ford Ranger pickup truck was driven by Harms northbound on Route 1 when he for an undetermined reason, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound minivan driven by Ried.

According to a Vermilion County Coroner, Harms was the driver of the Ford Ranger pickup truck.

Harms died at the scene while Ried was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana where she later succumbed to her injuries.
