North Chicago, Illinois (February 8, 2018) – A 29-year-old male pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a Union Pacific North line train Tuesday night in North Chicago, according to North Chicago Fire Department and Metra.

The accident took place at around 6 p.m. Tuesday, near the North Chicago station in Lake County.

According to a Lake County coroner, Tracie Currie, of North Chicago, was crossing east to west on the pedestrian walk toward a waiting car when the Metra Express train 341 traveling north hit him.

Currie was pronounced dead at the incident scene, authorities said.

The train was not scheduled to stop in Chicago at that time but stopped near the North Chicago station after hitting Currie.

The deadly collision remained under an investigation.
