Tim Cowell Killed, Scotty Hatfield Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash on MO-37 in Lawrence County
Lawrence County, Missouri (February 8, 2018) – A Pierce City man was on Wednesday afternoon fatally injured in a crash involving a semi-truck in Lawrence County, according to MSHP.
The crash happened at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, on Missouri 37, approximately three miles west of Pierce City.
Troopers said 48-year-old Tim M. Cowell of Pierce City was driving a 2010 Volkswagen eastbound on MO-37 when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2012 International, driven by Scotty W. Hatfield, 32, of Rocky Comfort.
Cowell was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Hatfield was transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin with minor injuries.
Troopers said Cowell was not wearing his seatbelt.
