On Tuesday, July 17, Scott J. Rutherford, 53, Pleasant Hill, was injured in a motorcycle accident on Missouri State Highway 64, 2 miles east of Plad, MO, in Dallas county.
The accident began at approximately 2 pm when Melinda Dennis, 46, of Tunas, MO, crossed over the center line and struck Mr. Rutherford head on, as he was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in the adjoining lane.
The collision forced Mr. Rutherford to lose control of the motorcycle, which sped from the road onto the shoulder before overturning and ejecting Mr. Rutherford.
According to the official crash report, Mr. Rutherford suffered moderate injury and had to be flown via EMS to University of Missouri Hospital for further observation and treatment.
Ms. Dennis was unharmed in the incident and released at the scene.
Mr. Rutherford was wearing a helmt–though not a Missouri DOT approved helmet–at the time of the incident.
