Champaign County, Illinois (January 15, 2018) — According to an Illinois state police, one person was killed and another hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Thomasboro Monday morning.

The deadly accident took place at around 10:18 a.m. Monday, January 15, on Interstate 57 near milepost 246 in Thomasboro, Champaign County.

According to a police report, a 58-year-old Savoy man was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck northbound near milepost 246 near Thomasboro when he lost control of the car, slip sideways through the median and entered the southbound lanes.

A Ford box truck, driven by a 65-year-old Paxton man, was unable to avoid hitting the Chevrolet thus struck it on the driver’s side by a Ford box truck.

The Savoy man died of his injuries after being taken to a hospital while the Paxton man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The state police stated that both motorists were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

No citations were issued in the crash.

An investigation into the deadly collision is ongoing.
