Sarah Benedict, Kimberly Miller, hurt in Edina area accident.

Two Knox City women, Sarah Benedict, 32, and Kimberly Miller , 45, were injured in an auto-accident 2 miles east of Edina. The accident began at approximately 4:40 pm on Thursday, May 17, when Ms. Miller was attempted to execute a left hand turn and Ms. Benedict struck her vehicle in the side. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, both parties suffered moderate injuries and had to be transported to area hospitals for further observation and treatment. A traffic accident can be a disturbing and even frightening experience. We at the law offices of Kevin J. Roach wish all parties a quick and thorough recovery. Ms. Miller was not wearing a safety belt at the time of incident.

The Legal Claims

Missouri offers a complete system of personal injury laws meant to protect persons who are injured through another party’s negligence. Here, recovery will likely be dictated by a determination of fault and any compensation sought by the other driver could be reduced based on their own negligence (i.e., failure to wear a safety belt).  The claimant will be entitled to payment for any lost wages, pain and suffering, any damaged property, and medical bills incurred as a result of the accident.
