Champaign County, Illinois (January 16, 2018) – The Savoy man who was killed in a 2-vehicle collision Monday morning in Thomasboro has been identified as 58-year-old Robert Bross from Savoy, according to state police dispatch.

The fatal collision occurred at around 10:20 a.m. Monday, January 15, on Interstate 57 four miles south of Rantoul in Thomasboro, Champaign County.

According to state police, Bross was driving a pickup truck north when he went off the road, drove through the median and hit a southbound box truck driven by a 65-year-old Paxton man.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital where Bross succumbed to injuries approximately after arrival while the Paxton man remained hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, as per a report.

According to a Champaign County Coroner, an autopsy to determine the cause of the death of the Savoy man will be performed on Tuesday.

Citations are not expected in the crash, police said.
