Oak Lawn, Illinois (January 12, 21018) – An Oak Lawn man who was hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision last month in the southwest suburb has succumbed to injuries nineteen days after the crash, according to Cook County Medical Examiners.

The incident happened on Saturday, December 23, at 9817S. Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn.

According to an official report, Richard Saunders, 48, of Oak Lawn, was found unconscious and lying on the ground outside his vehicle.

According to a report, Saunders struck a parked, unoccupied car.

The 48-year-old man suffered injuries and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Saunders succumbed to his injuries 7:23 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said an autopsy Wednesday found Saunders died from complications of blunt force injuries to the head in the collision and chronic ethanolism, therefore, his death was ruled an accident.
