Phyllis Cullers, 90, Injured in 2-Car Crash on U.S. 60 near Neosho

Newton County, Missouri (January 9, 2017) – An elderly woman was injured Monday evening when two vehicles collided on US-60 in Newton County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The accident was reported around 9:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 on U.S. 60 two miles east of Neosho, authorities said.

MSHP officials said a 2008 Mercury Sable, driven by Phyllis J. Cullers, 90, of Stella MO, and a 2018 Peterbilt Conventional, driven by Russell E. Baxter, 48, of Springfield, were involved in the crash.

Authorities said the crash occurred when Cullers failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of the Peterbilt Conventional and was struck.

Cullers sustained moderate injuries in the accident and was taken by Newton EMS to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

No additional details were provided.

The accident is under investigation.
