St. Louis, Missouri (January 3, 2018) – A St. Charles County man was killed in a hit-and-run collision in St. Louis Saturday morning, authorities said.

The fatal accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, December 30, at the intersection of Hall Street and Adelaide Avenue.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol, Phillip G. Hoenig, 49, of St. Charles County, was driving a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and was making a left turn at the at the intersection of Hall Street and Adelaide Avenue when his car was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro which ran a red light.

Hoenig had to be extricated from his car by crews and was taken a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Camaro abandoned the vehicle at the scene and ran away, authorities said.
