Off-Duty Steger Police Officer, IDOT Minuteman Injured in 2-Vehicle Accident on Marquette Road in Dan Ryan

Chicago, Illinois(February 28, 2018) –  Two people were injured following a collision involving an off-duty Steger police officer car and an IDOT tow truck Tuesday night in Dan Ryan Expressway, according to Illinois State Police.

The accident took place at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, in the northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan at Marquette Road.

According to the ISP, the officer was driving home from work when he slammed into the back of an Illinois Department of Transportation emergency tow truck.

Police said the male IDOT worker and the off-duty officer both suffered minor injuries and were transported to Stroger Hospital.

The cause of the crash remained under an investigation.
