Marion County, Illinois (March 5, 2018) – A dirt-bike rider was killed in a head-on collision Friday in Marion County.

The collision took place on Friday, March 2, on Illinois 37 near Kell

According to the police, 45-year-old William Jones was driving southbound on Illinois 37 when he started to make a left turn onto Kell Road and crashed with an oncoming dirt bike head-on. Norman Boxx, 45, of Kell was riding the bike.

Boxx was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Jones was not injured and was booked for making an improper turn. The highway was closed for several hours.

The incident remained under investigation.
