Phelps County, Missouri (February 7, 2018) – Two people were on Sunday afternoon injured in a crash involving four vehicles in Phelps County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision took place at around 3:20 p.m. Sunday, February 4, on Interstate 44 at Mile Marker 186.2.

Troopers said vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-44 when a 2001 Chevrolet Impala rear-ended a 2014 International tractor-trailer.

A second tractor-trailer then struck the back of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado which in turn struck the first tractor-trailer.

Janes’ passenger, Nicholas Gdissis, 50, also of Clawson, sustained minor injuries. He was taken to Phelps County Regional Medical Center Rolla. Troopers said the two were not wearing their seatbelts.

The driver of the first tractor-trailer, Leo J. Erickson, 47, of Decatur, Al., and the Silverado driver, Colby L. Hemby, 41, of Steelville, were unhurt. Both were wearing their safety belts.

The driver of the Impala, Jaysen M. Michael, 25, of Doolittle, had his seatbelt on and was also unhurt.
