Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at South Appleton Road and Daimler Drive in Belvidere

Belvidere, Illinois (February 27, 2018) — A motorcyclist was killed and a driver was taken to a hospital following a collision early Tuesday morning in Belvidere, Boone County, police said.

The fatal crash took place at around 5:38 a.m. at South Appleton Road and Daimler Drive.

According to authorities, the motorcycle was driven southbound on Appleton Road when a northbound Ford began making a left turn onto Daimler causing the motorbike to strike the passenger side of the Ford.

The rider reportedly died in the crash while the male driver of the Ford was taken to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford as a precaution, police said.

The crash resulted in a closure of the roads as authorities continued an investigation but reportedly reopened as of 10:30 a.m., as per the report.
