Genoa Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision on East Main Street

Genoa, Illinois (March 4, 2018)  – A 39-year-old male pedestrian from Genoa was killed after he was struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Genoa, DeKalb County, according to Genoa Police Department.

The deadly crash happened at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the 800 block of East Main Street.

The police reported that Michael J. Price, of the 800 block of Wilshire Drive, was hit by an SUV driven westbound by Cindy P. Napiorkowski, 38, of Genoa while crossing the street.

Police said Napiorkowski was not able to stop in time to avoid hitting Price.

Price was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

Investigators said Price was not crossing at an intersection and that it was still unclear where he was crossing, as per the report.

Neither weather nor alcohol played a role in the crash, police said.

An autopsy to determine the cause of the death of Price has been scheduled on Monday, police said.

An investigation into the fatal wreck is ongoing.
